Chautauqua – Inaugural “Paint the Lake” Plein Air Event
August 3rd, 2024
We had 19 artists join this unique Plein Air “Paint Out” in Palmer Lake, CO, celebrating the camaraderie of fellow painters from across the front range. Participants selected from many locations around the lake or from 4-5 previewed areas around the town. We started the day at the park Gazebo to the sounds of live Scottish bagpipes being played on the Lake’s bridge while registering and setting up plein air kits at painter’s chosen locations for the morning painting period. After the BBQ lunch and afternoon painting period, submissions for judging began at the tent area at 2:30 PM where 3 painters received awards for first through third places, receiving $500, $350 and $200 awards respectively.
- Location: Gazebo in the Park
- $50 for members from PLAG, CRAA, PPWS or PAAC
- $80 for non-members
