With over 65 pieces included in this summer’s “Color Splash”, PLAG was pleased to have well known instructor and national award winner Chris Alvarez as the judge for the event. First place was presented to Mark Dixon for his oil painting entitled “Pink and Blue/Green” with special note by the judge for the degree of difficulty in portraying figures that convey personality of the subject and the artist as well. Second place was awarded to Kirk Meuller for his “Clouds Triptych” piece using acrylics. Third place and People Choice awards both went to our first place PLAG Art Scholarship winner Cavan Porter. While Cavan was unable to attend the opening reception, his parents and a large group of his supporters were there to cheer on his continued successful art achievements and to show appreciation to PLAG for the event. 

A special thank you to Joanie Lang for all her efforts in putting together this event and to Irmi Knoth for her work with the scholarship recipients in framing their submittals and preparing them for the exhibit. And congratulations to Rita Bates who sold two of her pieces during the opening reception!
